I’ve received a lot of questions on my daily makeup such as what I use to keep my face looking fresh throughout the entire day. So, I decided to share what products I use and how I prep for my daily makeup routine. Please note, I am in no way a professional makeup artist. This is just me sharing my favorite products.
Besides having a clean face, I believe the most important prep step is to hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate!!! Before I apply any makeup, I always ensure to drink at least 8 ounces of water. Sometimes even 16 ounces. I then lather my face and neck in moisturizer. I have certain areas on my face that are drier than others, so I definitely apply more lotion in those spots. There’s nothing more sad than applying makeup on dry, flake-y skin. Total horror story in my opinion! Lastly, if I have any breakouts then I lightly dab tree tea oil on those areas. Shoutout to Desi Perkins for that tip!!
Clean makeup brushes is key as well. I use makeup wipes to remove any residue, cleanse them with face wash and then let sit to dry. Sometimes I’ll even use the disposable cosmetic wedges if my brushes aren’t clean due to the fact that I was too lazy to clean them hahaha.
All Over Face Products
Fenty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation (Shade: 290)
I immediately fell in love with Fenty’s foundation. It’s easy to apply, gives the face a photo finish, available in several colors, and is affordable! My favorite thing about it is how smooth it is. The texture is so silky that you wouldn’t even believe it’s full coverage. Sometimes I even forget that I’m wearing foundation. That’s how light it feels! Also, the color is so true to my skin tone. Foundations I tried prior to this had peach or pink undertones, which I don’t have at all. Rather, I have an olive undertone so I was extremely happy to find one that matched me so well!
Compared to the more expensive foundations I’ve tried, Fenty does not crack or crumble. It is also not so thick to where it feels cake-y.
For application, I use an angled foundation brush. I lightly dampen it with water before applying the foundation. It’s normally already damp from me washing it.
Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder (Shade: Natural)
This setting powder is the holy grail of powders!!! I hardly ever have to reapply during the day. I honestly don’t know how one application is even enough. I feel like it just soaks up all my oils and gets rid of it. Scientifically it probably doesn’t do that, but that’s just my belief LOL
For application, I use a standard setting powder brush. Sometimes I’ll even blend my bronzer and translucent powder together, then apply all over my face and neck. It gives me a warm, glow-y look.
Sephora Collection Bronzer Powder (Shades: Fuji or Bora Bora)
Benefit GALifornia Blush
I am obsessed with blush and bronzer! I’m even more obsessed with mixing them together and then applying to my cheek bones. If I don’t mix them together, then I’ll blend them by applying the bronzer first and then lightly sweeping the blush over it. It honestly just depends on my mood. If I want a warm pop effect, then I’ll use the Sephora Collection bronzer in Fuji. If I’m feeling more of a deep, toast-y look then I’ll apply the Sephora Collection bronzer in Bora Bora. I use the GALifornia blush if I’m wanting a peachy look.
Physician’s Formula Eye Booster Liquid Eyeliner (Shade: Ultra Black)
Back in high school, I discovered that regular eye products make my eyelash hairs fall out. I know, so random. This resulted in me having to use organic eye makeup, which made my lashes grow back thank heavens!!! I’ve been using Physician’s Formula since I was 16 years old and absolutely love it! It nourishes your lashes and lash line all while making them pop! The mascara makes my lashes full and longer. The liquid eyeliner just glides on giving it a clean, precise finish. It is especially perfect for the wing look.
This eyebrow pencil is absolutely the best! The micro pencil allows me to fill spots of my eyebrows I normally wouldn’t be able to reach with other pencils. Also, this product stays on through everything! Whether I’m sweating up a storm from a gym workout or being splashed in the face by waves at the beach, this stuff stays on through it all. I don’t believe they advertise this product as water proof, but it sure seems like it is.
If you buy this eyebrow pencil, I suggest going a shade lighter than your actual brow color. For reference, I have black eyebrow hairs. I buy the soft brown shade so my brows look a little more natural. If I were to use black, then my brows may look too harsh.
Alright lovelies, there you have it! That’s my daily makeup routine in a nut shell. Thanks for stopping by!
